How the crime trail works
The aim of a Crime-Trails is to solve a criminal case (e.g. murder, burglary, kidnapping, etc.). The basis is the crime case file (available in analogue or digital form), which contains all the necessary information about the case.
Currently, only the Crime-Trails light are available in English. The Crime-Trails light are designed for adults and young people aged 12-14 and over. As is usual in a criminal case, you first visit the crime scene and then various locations to find out more about the suspects – who only become known during the course of the game. You can obtain this information with the help of the “Krimi-Trail Toolbox App” when you reach the various locations. The “Krimi-Trail Toolbox” app must therefore be installed on your mobile phone before playing the game.
The Crime-Trails light with the titles of the same name are identical – even if the city is different.
1. Select Crime-Trail, buy game access, set group name
If you want to take part, select the crime trail of the desired destination and buy the required number of game accesses (minimum 5). Before you add the number of game accesses to the shopping basket, enter the desired name for your group.
The person ordering will receive access to the drime file as a pdf for downloading (including the solutions) This crime file will be sent directly to the person ordering by e-mail after the order has been placed. You can also find the file after logging in to your account under “Downloads”.
When ordering, use an e-mail address to which you have easy access, as you will need to log in with this e-mail after ordering in order to access your file.
If you already have a customer account or have already ordered once with the e-mail address you entered (for the Crime-Trails or one of our partner products), you will be asked to log in to your user account first. If you have forgotten your password, you can simply request a new password using the “Forgot password” button.
2. Log in to account and distribute game accesses
Only people who have access to the game can convict the perpetrator(s) at the end and also have access to a digital crime file. To be able to distribute the game accesses, you must log in with your order e-mail address. You will then automatically be taken to the “Game access” menu item, where you will find the group name you entered when ordering.
There you can invite additional players to your game. To do this, you need the e-mail address of the people you want to invite. They will then receive an invitation to the game by e-mail (please check your spam folder if they have not received the e-mail).
3. Start the crime trail (start investigation)
To get started with the game – which you can do at any time without prior registration – either print out the crime file or log into your customer account. Go to the menu item “My account” and select the relevant game under “Games”.
Visit the locations listed in the location map in any order. At each of these locations, you will solve a puzzle and then receive further clues (via text message or online chat) that will allow you to rule out suspects or track down the perpetrator(s).
For groups larger than 5 people, we recommend forming several groups. As the places can be visited in any order, the groups will be spread out.
4. Convict the perpetrator
After solving the case, log in to your customer account. To do this, use the email address you used to order. Then select your trail under “Games”. You can convict the perpetrator using the “Convict perpetrator” button.

At least one mobile phone with internet. Make sure the mobile phone is NOT SET TO SILENT.
“Crime-Trail Toolbox” app installed on at least one mobile phone. The app requires operating systems iOS 11 and later or Android 7 and later. Download from the App Store | Google Play Store.

Participation fees
Participation in a “Crime-Trail light” costs CHF 4 to CHF 5 per person (game access). At least 5 game accesses must be purchased (basic price). Each additional person can then be purchased at the indicated personal price.
No pre-booking necessary
The Crime-Trails do not require advance booking. Simply buy a Crime Trail, travel to the relevant city and off you go with your Thriller fun.
